Thanks for the quick reply. My BMW has now covered 148782 km, so it's been through a lot. But I haven't had any major problems so far, apart from the usual repair stuff. At the last service they changed the spark plugs and fitted a new air filter. All in all, it's always run pretty reliably. I'll have them look at the cable connection on the gear selector. Thanks for the tip!
