Mitsubishi Town Box Seat Heater Problems: Common Fixes

Seat heating without function

Hey everyone, I have a 2011 Mitsubishi Town Box that's giving me trouble with the seat heating system. It's completely stopped working. Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I'd like to know what the common causes are and what repairs were needed to fix it. Any information about repair costs or experiences with workshops would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage (I've got some experience working on cars, but I'm no expert). The heating mat in my driver's seat completely died last winter, super annoying! Took it to my local workshop and they diagnosed a faulty heating element in the seat. The whole repair, including parts and labor, set me back about 390 Euro. They had to replace the entire heating mat, it's not something they could just patch up. What trim level is your Town Box? Also, is it just one seat or both seats affected? Might help me give you more specific advice since these systems can vary between models. Quick tip: Before you head to the workshop, check if your fuse is okay, it's a simple thing but worth checking first!

Thanks for sharing your experience! Yeah, it's both front seats that aren't working on mine. My car's at 52685 KM and just had its service done last month, so it's quite frustrating to deal with this now. I actually did check the fuses first (learned that from previous electrical issues), but they all seem fine. Mine's the basic trim level, nothing too fancy. That price range you mentioned for the repair sounds reasonable if it comes to that, I was worried it might cost way more. Has anyone else had the same problem with a Town Box specifically? Or knows a reliable workshop that's good with Mitsubishi electrical systems?

Hey again! Yeah, I remember when I shared my Mirage story earlier. Since then, I've actually heard from quite a few other Mitsubishi owners with similar issues. You know what's interesting? Having both seats fail at the same time in your Town Box actually makes me think it might not be the heating elements after all, that would be quite a coincidence! Since you mentioned you just had a service done last month, maybe check if anything got disconnected during the service? On my Mirage, I later found out that sometimes the wiring connector under the seat can get loose during maintenance work. It's worth having a look, though be careful poking around down there. Also, have you noticed any other electrical quirks lately? My car started showing some weird behavior with the power windows right before the seat heaters went out. Turned out they were related to a bigger electrical issue. Maybe worth checking if there's anything else acting up? Just sharing this because I don't want you to go through the whole heating mat replacement like I did if it's something simpler. The 390 Euro I spent still stings a bit, haha! Let us know what you find, I'm actually curious to know if Town Boxes have similar issues to my Mirage.

Thanks so much for the follow-up! You've actually given me a new direction to look into. Now that you mention it, I did notice my power mirrors acting a bit sluggish lately, but I didn't connect the dots. That's really interesting about the wiring connector, I'll definitely check under the seats before spending money on new heating mats. I just called my service center, and they said they did have to move the seats around quite a bit during the last service. So you might be onto something there! I'll have them take a look at those connections first. Really appreciate you sharing your experience and saving me from potentially unnecessary repairs. Will update the thread once I figure out what's actually wrong. Thanks again for all the help!
