Thanks for sharing your experience! Yeah, sounds pretty similar to what I'm dealing with. It's helpful to know what you found, makes me feel better about getting it checked out. Hey, do you remember roughly how much the whole repair set you back? And has everything been running smoothly since the fix? Just wanna know what I might be in for. Thanks!
Hey again! Just wanted to follow up, yes, everything's been working perfectly since I got the brakes fixed! The total bill came to 480€, which honestly wasn't as bad as I was expecting given it was an EV-specific repair. Since having the work done, the warning light hasn't come back on and the brake pedal feels way more responsive, no more sponginess! I'm really glad I got it sorted when I did. My i-MiEV feels so much safer to drive now, and the regenerative braking is working perfectly with the conventional brakes. Definitely worth every penny for the peace of mind. Hope this helps with your decision-making! Let me know if you need the details of my mechanic, they really know their stuff when it comes to these EVs.
Thanks so much for all the details! I finally got my Minicab checked out yesterday at the mechanic you recommended. The whole experience was actually way better than I expected. Similar to your case, they found worn brake pads and low fluid levels. The total came to about 450€, which wasn't too bad. The funny part was when they showed me the old brake pads, they were literally hanging on by a thread! Can't believe I was driving around like that. The mechanic explained everything clearly and even gave me some tips about maintaining the regenerative braking system. The car feels like new now, no more warning lights and the brakes are super responsive. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for pushing me to get it checked out, you probably saved me from a much bigger headache down the road!
Hey there! I drive a 2018 Mitsubishi i-MiEV and had a similar brake warning light issue last month. I took it to my regular EV specialist because the brake pedal was feeling a bit spongy too. Turned out my brake pads were severely worn, and the rotors needed resurfacing. The mechanic also found that the brake fluid level was low, which triggered the warning light. For EVs like ours, brake wear can be different from conventional cars because of regenerative braking. My mechanic mentioned this is actually quite a serious safety issue that shouldn't be ignored. They had to replace the pads, resurface the rotors, and do a brake fluid flush to fix everything. I'd recommend finding a certified EV mechanic who knows Mitsubishi electric vehicles specifically. Regular mechanics might not be familiar with the regenerative braking system's interaction with the conventional brakes. Hope this helps!
