Mitsubishi Lancer: Dead Entertainment System Mystery

Navigationssystem is not working

|

No sound of the Audiosystem

Hey everyone, having trouble with my 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer's entertainment system. Both the audio and nav system completely stopped working, no sound, no display. I suspect it might be related to the audio system function, but I'm not entirely sure. Has anyone faced similar issues with their Dion? Would really appreciate hearing about your repair experiences and what the actual problem turned out to be. Mainly interested in workshop solutions that worked for you. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer (pretty close to your Dion). The sound system completely died on me, and after taking it to my trusted workshop, they found out it was a blown bass speaker that messed up the whole system. Cost me around 280€ to get it fixed, they had to replace the speaker and check all the connections. Which trim level is your Lancer, and have you noticed any crackling sounds before it completely stopped working? This might help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same issue I had. Quick tip: Make sure to get it checked soon, in my case, the faulty speaker was causing some weird electrical drainage too. Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's not making any crackling sounds, it just suddenly stopped working completely one morning. The last service was done about 2 months ago, and I'm at 140559 KM now. I've got the base trim level, and honestly, until now the entertainment system has been working fine. I'll definitely get it checked out soon, don't want any electrical issues popping up. Did your battery drain happen gradually, or was it more of a sudden thing? Just wondering if I should be watching out for that too.

Hey again! Yeah, I totally get what you're describing. With my Lancer, the battery drain was pretty sneaky, started really subtle and got worse over about two weeks. But since you're saying yours just died suddenly without any warning signs like crackling (which mine definitely had), it might be something different. Come to think of it, after I had that first speaker issue fixed, I actually ran into another similar complete shutdown about a year later. But that time it turned out to be a blown fuse, way cheaper fix, thankfully! Since you mentioned having service work done recently, might be worth checking if they accidentally knocked something loose or if a fuse blew. Tell you what, before you head to the workshop, maybe check your fuse box? It's a super quick check and might save you some cash. The audio system fuse on these Mitsubishis from that era is usually pretty easy to spot in the manual. Mine was labeled "AUDIO" or "ACC" if I remember right. Keep me posted on what you find out! These older Mitsubishis can be tricky with their electrical stuff, but they're usually fixable without breaking the bank.

Thanks so much for the detailed advice! I just checked the fuse box following your suggestion, and you won't believe it, found a blown fuse labeled "AUDIO"! I'm actually relieved it might be something this simple. Gonna grab a replacement fuse tomorrow and give it a try before taking it to the workshop. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences and tips, especially about the battery drain issue, I'll definitely keep an eye on that just in case. It's great to hear from someone who's dealt with similar issues. I'll update this thread once I've replaced the fuse, in case anyone else runs into the same problem with their Lancer. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
