Mitsubishi Dignity Massage Seat Malfunction, Solutions Needed

Massage seat without function

Hey everyone, I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Dignity and the massage seat function stopped working completely. I suspect it might be the massage seat switch, but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone dealt with this issue before? Would like to know what your mechanic found and how they fixed it. Any tips or experiences would be really helpful.

Hi there! I have some experience with cars and had a similar issue with my 2003 Mitsubishi Proudia (pretty close to your Dignity model). The massage seat function died on me too. Took it to my regular workshop and they found it was just a loose cable connection to the seat control unit. The mechanic fixed the plug, checked all the connections, and it was working like new again. Cost me around 95€ for the repair. Could you share more details about when this started happening? Like, did it stop suddenly or gradually? Also, can you hear any noise when you try to use the massage function? This info would help narrow down if you're dealing with the same problem I had. Feel free to ask if you need more details about my repair experience!

Thanks for sharing your experience! This happened pretty suddenly last week, one day it was working fine, and the next day nothing. No noise or response at all when pressing the button. Mine's at 98551 KM and just had its service last month where everything was working perfectly. I'll definitely get my mechanic to check the cable connections first before replacing any parts. Hoping it's just a loose connection like yours was!

Hey again! Yeah, that sudden stop sounds exactly like what happened with my Proudia. When mine died suddenly without any noise, it was definitely that loose connection I mentioned. Since your car just had a service, it's possible they might have accidentally disturbed some connections while working on something else. I remember when my mechanic found the issue, he showed me how the connector at the control unit had vibrated loose over time, it's a common thing with these older Mitsubishis. The fact that you're getting absolutely no response (just like my case) makes me even more convinced it's probably the same issue. Quick tip from my experience, ask your mechanic to check not just the main connector, but also the smaller wire harnesses under the seat. When they fixed mine, they found a couple of other connections that were starting to get loose, so they secured those too while they were at it. Let us know how it goes! Always happy to help out a fellow Mitsubishi owner.

Thank you so much for all the detailed advice! I feel much more confident about what to tell my mechanic now. I'll definitely ask them to check all the connectors, including those smaller wire harnesses you mentioned. It's such a relief to hear this might be a simple fix rather than having to replace the whole unit. I'll make an appointment tomorrow and update you once it's sorted. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's super helpful having someone who's dealt with the same issue!
