Mitsubishi 380 Warning Lights: Seeking Honest Mechanic

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Error in the lighting

Hey everyone, my '07 Mitsubishi 380 (141,661 KM) has been giving me some trouble lately. I've got warning lights popping up on my dashboard and some issues with the exterior lights. Pretty sure it's just a bulb problem, but after a sketchy experience with my last mechanic, I'm a bit hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar lighting issues on their Mitsubishi? Any recommendations for reliable mechanics who won't rip me off? Really appreciate any advice or shared experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer (a bit different from your 380, but same electrical system basics). Last month, I got those unusual warning lights on the dash, and the front passenger side light was acting up. Turned out the cable connection to the lamp was defective, corrosion had built up in the connector. Took it to my garage, and they had to clean the connector housing, replace a section of the wiring harness, and reseal the connection point to prevent future moisture damage. Wasn't a major repair, but it needed to be done properly to avoid more serious electrical issues down the line. I'd suggest getting it checked soon, what starts as a simple lighting issue can sometimes lead to more complex electrical problems if left unattended. Most decent shops should be able to diagnose this pretty quickly with their diagnostic tools. Best of luck sorting it out.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Glad to hear it wasn't anything too major. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much the repair set you back? And has everything been working smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other electrical quirks pop up?

Hey again! Yeah, of course I can share the costs, I just got it fixed recently and paid 180€ for the repair. The mechanic found that the cable connection to the lamp was shot, but after they fixed it, everything's been working like a charm! The warning lights that were giving me anxiety are completely gone now, and all exterior lights are working perfectly. I've been keeping an eye on it since the repair (about 3 weeks now), and I haven't noticed any other electrical issues. My Lancer's running smooth as butter! Honestly, it was worth every cent just for the peace of mind. The bulb that was acting up before is now working perfectly too, turns out it wasn't even the bulb itself that was the problem, but that dodgy connection I mentioned before. If you're experiencing something similar, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out. Better to fix it now than wait for it to potentially cause bigger problems, you know what I mean? Let me know how it goes when you get yours looked at!

Just wanted to update you all, I took your advice and got my 380 checked out today. You were spot on! Had pretty much the same issue, corroded wiring connection that was messing with my lights. The mechanic I found was actually great, super transparent about everything. Cost me about $200 all up, which wasn't too bad considering what needed fixing. They cleaned up all the connections, replaced some damaged wiring, and made sure everything was properly sealed. Took them about an hour and a half to sort it all out. The best part? All those annoying warning lights are gone now, and my exterior lights are working perfectly! Such a relief to have it sorted. Really glad I didn't put it off any longer. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me know what to expect. Sometimes these cars just need a bit of TLC to keep them running smoothly!
