Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience, that's exactly what I needed to hear! Sounds like my issue is pretty similar to what you had. I'm feeling better knowing it's probably just the servomotor and not something more serious. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much the repair set you back? And has everything been working smoothly since the fix, or have you had any other quirks pop up? Cheers!
Hey again! Glad I could help! Yeah, I wanted to update you, since getting my Galant fixed, it's been working perfectly. Not a single problem with the headlights, and that annoying warning light hasn't come back either. About the cost, I actually just had this done at my mechanic's last month, and it set me back 1040€. Bit of a hit to the wallet, I know, but it was worth every penny to get that headlight range control malfunction sorted out properly. The defective servomotor was definitely the culprit, just like I suspected. It's such a relief to drive at night now without worrying about blinding other drivers or not being able to see properly. Plus, no more stress about getting pulled over for wonky headlights! Let me know if you end up getting yours fixed, would be interesting to hear if you run into the same thing. These Mitsubishis can be quirky sometimes, but they're solid cars when maintained right. Take care!
Hey! Just wanted to update you, I got my car fixed yesterday! Took your advice and found a mechanic who specializes in Mitsubishis. You were spot on, it was the servomotor causing all the trouble. Cost me around 980€, so pretty close to what you paid. The whole process was actually smoother than I expected. Dropped it off in the morning, and they had it ready by afternoon. The mechanic was really thorough and even showed me the old part that was causing all the drama. He also did a quick calibration check on both headlights to make sure everything was properly aligned. Had my first night drive since the fix, and what a difference! No more weird angles or warning lights, and I'm not getting flashed by other drivers anymore. Such a relief! Really appreciate you sharing your experience, helped me know what to expect and not get ripped off. Think I've found my new regular mechanic too! Cheers for all your help!
Hey there, I actually dealt with a similar issue on my '08 Mitsubishi Galant last year. The servomotor in my headlight assembly was failing, causing misaligned beams and triggering the warning light. Took it to my regular shop, they diagnosed it pretty quickly. The issue was the headlight leveling motor had worn out. Got the servomotor replaced and also had them recalibrate the entire headlight system. Not a super serious problem, but definitely needed fixing since poor alignment can be dangerous at night and might get you in trouble with the cops. The repair itself wasn't too complex, took about 2 hours at the shop. The trickiest part was actually calibrating the new servomotor correctly. Hope this helps give you some perspective. Make sure whoever works on it knows Mitsubishi's headlight systems, they're a bit different from other brands. Good luck!
