Thanks for the info! My mileage is currently at 66438 KM and I just had it serviced last month. I'm getting the battery warning light on the dash, but no other indicators. I'm using a generic OBD2 scanner, but it's not giving me much useful info because of the locked memory issue. Did your mechanic mention anything about potential battery cell issues when they replaced your control module? Just trying to rule that out before I take it in.
Hey again! Always glad to help out a fellow Mitsubishi EV owner. You know, that battery warning light actually rings a bell. When I had my i-MiEV issue, I initially thought it was just the control module, but there was a bit more to it. In my case, after they replaced the control module, they discovered that two of the battery cells were showing irregular voltage readings. My mileage was pretty similar to yours, around 70,000 KM when this happened. The generic OBD2 scanner was pretty useless for me too. The shop had to use their specialized Mitsubishi diagnostic tool to really get to the bottom of it. Since you just had it serviced last month, I'd double-check with your service center if they noticed anything unusual with the battery pack during the maintenance. Mine started with just the battery warning light too, and I wish I'd investigated it sooner. Quick tip from my experience, if you're taking it to a shop, make sure they're properly certified for Mitsubishi EVs. The first garage I went to didn't have the right diagnostic equipment and couldn't help much. Let me know how it goes! I'm really curious if you're dealing with the same battery cell issue I had.
Thanks so much for that detailed response! This is exactly the kind of insight I was hoping for. I'll definitely get in touch with my service center tomorrow to check their maintenance notes. You're absolutely right about needing a specialized shop, I have a certified Mitsubishi dealer about 45 minutes away, so I'll probably end up taking it there. Really appreciate the heads-up about the battery cells too. That's something I hadn't considered, but it makes sense given the similar mileage and symptoms. I'll make sure to mention your experience when I take it in, might save them some diagnostic time. I'll update this thread once I get it sorted out. Thanks again for all your help!
Hey there! I have some experience with EVs and ran into a similar issue with my 2015 Mitsubishi i-MiEV (pretty close cousin to your Minicab EV). Also own a MiEV Cargo for my small business. Initially, I was stumped by a locked fault memory too. Took it to my regular EV workshop and they found that the control module was acting up. Ended up costing me around 625€ to replace the faulty component and reset the system. Quick question, are you getting any specific warning lights on the dash? Also, what diagnostic tool are you using to read the codes? This info would help me understand if you're dealing with the same problem I had. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more details.
