Mini Roadster Oxygen Sensor Issue

Thanks for your reply. I haven't personally inspected the wiring yet, I'm not that experienced with auto electrics. But if the cable or plug connection were defective, would that consistently trigger the check engine light, or would it be more intermittent? And would that definitely be the root of my high fuel consumption problem?

Based on your description and the error code you retrieved, it is highly probable that a defective cable or plug connection is indeed the cause of your issues. A faulty connection can disrupt the signal from the oxygen sensor, leading to inaccurate readings and triggering the check engine light. This, in turn, can negatively impact fuel efficiency. Given your lack of experience with auto electrics, I strongly recommend taking your Mini Roadster to a qualified workshop for diagnosis and repair. The estimated repair cost of 95€ seems reasonable for an oxygen sensor replacement.

Okay, an update for you. I took your advice and brought my Mini Roadster to the workshop. Turns out you were spot on. The automotive sensor was the culprit. They replaced the aged oxygen sensor, and the defective cable and plug connection too. The check engine light is gone, and it seems like the fuel efficiency is back to normal. The repair cost was 95€. Thanks for your help!

Good day. I understand you are experiencing issues with your Mini Roadster. The symptoms you described, including the check engine light and increased fuel consumption, strongly suggest a problem with the exhaust sensor, specifically the oxygen sensor. Have you inspected the wiring and connections to the oxygen sensor for any signs of damage or corrosion? Also, what error code is stored in the error memory?
