Yes, I've read the fault codes; it points towards the torque converter lock-up clutch being defective. Your description is spot on. I am just curious, did your error code specifically mention the converter, or was it more generic? Were there any other symptoms I may have missed?

Yes, the error code did indeed point directly to the converter lock-up clutch. As for other symptoms, I would describe it as occasional 'shuddering' at certain speeds, almost like driving over rumble strips. I strongly suggest getting a professional assessment at a workshop. It is likely a converter fault.

Right, the Roadster's back and running. Confirmed converter fault as suspected, got it replaced. Bill came to 2120€. Thanks for your input, much appreciated. Hopefully, this thread will help others with similar auto transmission problems.

That sounds remarkably similar to an issue I experienced with my Mini Roadster. I recall the check engine light and transmission indicator illuminating in conjunction with some rather unsettling slippage during gear changes. Grinding noises are never a good sign; clearly something amiss within the automatic gearbox. Have you had the fault codes read? Knowing the specific codes could offer more insight into the converter fault.
