Mini Paceman problems again and again the starter does not work

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Weird engine noise

Dim or flickering lights

Longer cold start time

Car won't start

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Mini Paceman Diesel (2013 model year). It starts badly, especially when it's cold, sometimes not at all. The engine makes strange noises, the battery seems weak and the lights flicker or are dim. In addition, a warning indicator lights up in the speedometer. Could this be related to "engine start possibly not possible"? What experiences have you had and how did your garage fix this? Thanks for your help!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2015 Mini Countryman. I'm not an expert, but I have some experience with cars. In my case, it was ultimately a fault in the vehicle's electrical system. My garage explained to me that it was a consequential electrical fault, so I didn't have to pay anything (0.0 euros). I would recommend having the electrics checked. It might also help to check or replace the battery. Have you already had the fault memory read out? If you can provide more information, I may be able to help you more specifically. Best regards!

Hey, thanks for the tip! I'll definitely have the electrics checked and also take a closer look at the battery. The fault memory has not yet been read out. My Paceman currently has 187654 km on the clock and was last serviced a few months ago. Maybe it really is just the electrics or the battery. I'll keep you up to date! Best regards!

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Your Paceman already has quite a few kilometers on the clock, so of course something can always go wrong. I think the idea with the vehicle electrics and the battery is a good start. It was similar with my Countryman - in the end it was due to a faulty relay that wasn't passing on the voltage correctly. If you haven't had the fault memory read out yet, I would definitely do this as soon as possible, as this can clarify things. Sometimes it's only small things that trigger such chain reactions. Keep us up to date on what you find out. Good luck and hopefully it's nothing serious! Best regards!

Hey, thanks again for your tip! Yes, with over 187,000 km, something can always crop up. Good to know that it was "only" a relay in your case. I'll definitely have the fault memory read out soon and then report what I find. I also hope that it's something small that can be fixed quickly. I'll keep you posted, and thanks again for your support! Best regards!

Hello Heinz, Have you already gotten a result from the readout? I had a similar problem back then and the plugs were oxidized in my wiring harness. Greetings Daniel
