Mini Paceman oxygen sensor issue

I am experiencing a problem with my 2016 Mini Paceman. The check engine light is illuminated, and an error related to the oxygen sensor is stored in the error memory. Furthermore, I have observed a higher fuel consumption than usual. Based on my research, a likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection to the O2 sensor. Could this indeed be related to the air-fuel ratio?

Whoa, that sounds like a drag! Check engine lights are never fun. An aged O2 sensor on a Paceman with that mileage? Hmm, maybe it's just a bad batch. Have you tried checking the sensor's wiring harness for any obvious damage or loose connections? It could be something simple before you go tearing into the air-fuel ratio system.

Thanks for the suggestion! When you say 'wiring harness', are you referring to the cable that connects directly to the oxygen sensor itself? Is there a specific area where these connections tend to fail?

Yeah, the cable that plugs right into the O2 sensor. Sometimes they get brittle or the connectors corrode. But honestly, if you're not super comfortable poking around with electrical stuff, maybe get a professional to take a peek. A faulty O2 sensor can mess with your fuel efficiency big time. It could be a quick fix, or it could snowball into something worse. Better safe than sorry, right?

Just wanted to let you know I got the oxygen sensor sorted. Turns out it was indeed a defective plug connection, just as suspected. The repair cost 95€. Thanks for your input!
