Mini Paceman Overheating

Coolant level is fine. The fan does seem to be running intermittently, and it's making a weird whirring sound sometimes. What does 'fan clutch' mean?

A fan clutch is a component that regulates the fan speed based on temperature, but since yours is electric, that's not the problem. The whirring sound and intermittent operation suggest the electric motor or its connection is failing. Given the symptoms, I'd say your initial thought about a cable or plug issue is spot on. To be honest, chasing electrical gremlins can be tricky. If you're not comfortable with auto electrics, it might be best to get it checked out by a professional to avoid further damage from vehicle overheating.

Just wanted to update you I took the Paceman to a local garage and they confirmed it was a faulty connection to the fan. They cleaned it up and all seems good, cost me 95€ so I'm happy. Thanks for the help!

Overheating on a Mini Paceman is never fun. A failing electric fan is a common cause. Since you're seeing vehicle overheating, it could be the fan clutch or even the electric motor itself. Have you checked the coolant level? Is the fan running at all, or is it completely dead? Any unusual noises coming from the engine bay?
