Mini Paceman Immobilizer Problem

I am writing to inquire about a potential immobilizer problem with my 2016 Mini Paceman diesel. The engine fails to start consistently. Occasionally, it will start briefly before shutting down again. Furthermore, an error is stored in the error memory. Based on my research, the likely cause is an incorrectly programmed key. Could you offer any guidance?

Sounds like a classic immobilizer fault. Does the remote start function work, or is that dead too? Sometimes a weak key battery can cause similar issues, but if you're getting an error code, it's likely something more involved with the car electronics. Have you tried the spare key?

The remote start doesn't work either. I also tried the spare key, but it exhibits the same behavior. Can a faulty ignition control module cause this issue even with a correctly programmed key? I remember reading about immobilizer bypass modules, but I don't know if they are reliable.

Okay, with the remote start not working and the spare key also failing, it does point strongly to a key programming issue or a fault within the immobilizer system itself. I've seen similar things before. Immobilizer bypass modules are generally a bad idea; they compromise your car's security. Given the symptoms and error code, I'd recommend a visit to a workshop to have the key reprogrammed. It sounds like the key signal got corrupted somehow.

I appreciate your input. It appears you were spot on. After reprogramming the key signal, the immobilizer issue is resolved. The final cost was 45€. Everything works as it should now.
