Mini Paceman fuel injection issue

I am experiencing difficulties with the fuel injection system on my 2016 Mini Paceman, which has approximately 103013 kilometers. The symptoms include higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, engine stalls at idle, and visible smoke during acceleration. Initial diagnostics point towards a defective cable or plug connection of the component. Is this a plausible explanation?

That does sound frustrating. I had a similar issue with my Mini Cooper. The symptoms were almost identical: reduced engine performance and the occasional stall at idle. Have you checked for any obvious fuel leaks around the injectors? Perhaps the fuel rail?

In my case, it turned out to be a corroded connector on one of the fuel injectors. The mechanic cleaned it up and applied some dielectric grease, and the problem vanished. However, I would still recommend a visit to a qualified workshop for a proper diagnosis. Isn't it better to be safe than sorry?

Indeed, quite irritating. Regarding your experience, was the root cause definitively a cable or plug connection as the diagnostic suggests in my case, or were there other contributing factors? Was there any maintenance I should consider to avoid this issue?

I appreciate your assistance. It appears you were correct. After a diagnostic evaluation, a defective cable connection within the fuel injection system was identified as the culprit. The repair cost came to 95€. Thank you again.
