Mini Paceman Automatic Transmission Problems

Alright, so my 2013 Mini Paceman's automatic transmission is giving me fits. It's a model with km on the clock. The shifting is just...wrong. The transmission indicator light is on. It feels like the automatic transmission doesn't shift as usual and sometimes goes into emergency mode. I read somewhere that undervoltage in the vehicle could be the cause. Anyone else run into this?

Sounds like you are having transmission problems. I had similar issues with my old Vauxhall. The automatic gearbox was acting up, shifting erratically. Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level? That could be a simple fix.

Hydraulic fluid level, got it. Is that the same as the transmission oil? And if it's low, what could be causing that?

Yes, hydraulic fluid is often referred to as transmission oil. If it's low, it could indicate a leak somewhere in the system. Given the symptoms, though, and the potential undervoltage issue, it might be more complex. I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop, as it sounds like you have significant transmission problems.

Just wanted to update that the issue is now resolved. The garage confirmed it was undervoltage causing the transmission problems. Total cost was 240€, which I think is reasonable. Thanks for your help!
