Mini Paceman Automatic Transmission Issues

Alright, I'm officially losing it with my 2016 Mini Paceman. I'm having major automatic transmission issues. Basically, the parking position seems defective the engine won't start, the check engine light is on, and the gearbox is slipping like crazy. Plus, I pulled the error codes, and it's pointing towards a defective control unit. Anyone else run into this? The mechanic is estimating around 1000€ to fix, which seems insane! Could this be related to the park brake or some other transmission issues?

Whoa, sounds rough! I had a similar issue with my Mini Paceman a while back. Check engine light, weird shifting... It was a nightmare! Did you happen to notice if the gear linkage felt loose at all? Mine was acting up before the whole transmission failure thing happened. Could be a faulty transmission sensor maybe?

Yeah, by "transmission failure thing" I meant the whole shebang went kaput. Luckily, it wasn't a complete transmission replacement, but they did replace the control unit and some other bits. I'd definitely get it checked out by a workshop. From what you're describing, it sounds like a similar problem.

I ended up taking it to a local mechanic who specializes in transmissions, and after a diagnostic check, they confirmed the control unit was indeed faulty.
