Good shout on the multimeter! I don't have one handy. Was your issue completely resolved by replacing the battery, or did you have to do any further diagnostics or coding after the replacement? Just curious if there's anything else I should be prepared for.

Yep, replacing the battery sorted it right out. I didn't need any coding or anything like that. But if you're still having issues after the battery swap, it might be worth getting the auto key checked out at a workshop.

Just wanted to close the loop on this one. As suspected, it was indeed the key battery. Got it replaced for 37€ at a local shop. Keyless entry is back, and no more annoying warnings! Thanks for the help, it saved me a trip to the dealership and a potentially larger bill.

I had a similar issue with my Mini Clubman. The 'key battery low' warning popped up, and keyless entry became intermittent. Then eventually stopped working entirely. Have you checked the battery voltage? Sometimes a simple multimeter check can confirm a low voltage situation before the dead key completely immobilizes you.
