Mini One engine power down

Argh! My 2009 Mini One is giving me grief. Only 15796 km and the engine power is noticeably down. The computer says the engine control unit is defective and I'm guessing it is related to ECU problems. Could a defective main relay be the issue?

Sounds familiar! I also drive a Mini One and experienced something similar a while back. Reduced engine performance and an error code. I suspect the vehicle electronics may be the culprit. Have you tried a system reset? That sometimes fixes these ECU problems.

System reset? Tell me more about that. Is that something I can do myself, or does it need special equipment?

In my case, the system reset didn't solve it. It probably requires special equipment and is best handled by a professional. Turns out it was a faulty relay. I would suggest you visit a workshop. They will probably suggest an ECU repair.

I had the main relay replaced. Cost me 120€. Back on the road!
