Good point about the compressor clutch. I assumed it was the AC control unit defective based on the stored error, but perhaps I jumped the gun. How did you pinpoint the refrigerant leak on your Audi? Did you use a dye or something?

Yeah, I used a UV dye kit to find the leak. It was a slow one, so it took a few goes to spot it. But if your compressor isn't even kicking in, and you have a fault code pointing to the AC unit, it probably is the control unit. Best bet is to get a proper diagnostic done at a workshop to confirm before replacing parts.

Update After a thorough diagnostic at a trusted independent shop, it turned out to be a faulty AC compressor, just as initially suspected. Replacing it, along with a system recharge, did the trick. Now it's blowing ice cold again. Thanks for your input and confirmation; it helped me focus my troubleshooting efforts!

Sounds like AC unit issues can be a pain. Had something similar happen on my old Audi, though it was a refrigerant leak that took forever to find. Did you check the basics, like refrigerant pressure? Is the compressor clutch engaging at all? Could be a simple electrical fault there.
