Mini Countryman AC Issue Temperature Sensor

So I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2012 Mini Countryman with just over 59000 km is throwing up an error message and the AC won't switch on. Error memory says it's a temperature sensor issue with the heat exchanger. I'm thinking maybe the air conditioning control unit is shot. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar! My Mini Countryman had similar symptoms last year with the AC and some weird temp readings. Did you check the cooling system at all? Is your temperature gauge acting up too?

Cooling system seems fine, no leaks or anything obvious. The temperature gauge in the dashboard is showing odd readings, fluctuating a lot. You think it's definitely the same issue? What exactly went wrong with yours?

Yep, the fluctuating temp gauge is a dead giveaway. For me, it ended up being a faulty sensor related to the heat exchanger. I tried some basic sensor calibration stuff but no luck. Best bet is to get it checked at a workshop, they can pinpoint the exact sensor and confirm if the control unit is also playing up.

Cheers for the advice I got it sorted. Turns out the heat exchanger temperature sensor was indeed defective. Cost a bomb at 980€ but at least the AC is working again!
