Mini Cooper start stop issue

I'm experiencing a problem with the start-stop system on my 2013 Mini Cooper. The engine shuts off as expected, but sometimes the engine start fails. There's also a warning light on the speedometer and an error stored in the error memory. My suspicion is a heavily discharged or defective battery. Has anyone encountered this before?

I had a similar issue with my Mini Cooper. The engine would just cut out sometimes, especially in Eco mode. Is the starter motor making any strange noises when the engine start happens? I'd check the car battery first. It's like the heart of the start-stop system.

Thanks for the quick reply. When you say 'similar issue', do you mean the engine stalling and the start-stop system not engaging? Was it also diagnosed as a battery problem?

Yes, that's exactly what was happening. The engine stalling was intermittent, and the start-stop just wouldn't kick in. Eventually, the car battery gave out completely. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop. A weak battery can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins in these cars.

Appreciate the insight. Turns out, the car battery was indeed the culprit. Had it replaced, and the start-stop system is functioning normally again. Total cost was 290€. Thanks again for your help.
