Mini Cooper Power Window Issue After Battery Replacement

Alright, hoping someone can help. I'm having a weird problem with my 2018 Mini Cooper diesel. After replacing the vehicle battery on my Mini Cooper, the power windows stopped working completely. Now, I get an error stored in the error memory related to window regulator initialization. Seems like the car electronics got a bit scrambled. Any ideas?

I experienced a similar power window issue on my Mini Cooper after disconnecting the battery. It sounds like the system lost its settings. The window reset procedure involves specific steps to re-teach the motor its upper and lower limits. Have you tried any window troubleshooting steps yet?

Thanks for the quick reply! I've read about the 'window reset' or 'initialization' you mentioned, but I am not sure how to perform that on my Mini Cooper. Could you elaborate on the steps involved, or perhaps point me to a resource? Is there a specific order to hold the button or anything?

Yes, it's likely the same issue. Unfortunately, the procedure can be model-specific and sometimes requires diagnostic equipment to properly reinitialize the window regulators. If you're not comfortable with car electronics, I would recommend taking it to a workshop. They should be able to perform the window reset quickly.

Just wanted to give a quick update. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. They performed a window reset procedure, which they referred to as 'window regulator initialization', and that fixed the problem. Apparently, the battery replacement scrambled the car electronics enough to cause it. Cost me 290€, but at least the power windows on my Mini Cooper diesel are working again! Thanks for the insight!
