Mini Cooper Oil Temperature Warning Light Issue

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2007 Mini Cooper. The oil temperature warning light keeps popping up on the speedometer. I ran a diagnostic, and it's throwing an error related to the oil temperature sensor. The oil pressure warning lamp is lighting up intermittently. My initial thought is that it could be a defective cable or plug connection. Could this be the culprit? Anyone else experience something similar with their oil temperature, oil gauge, or any other car sensor?

Sounds like the exact problem I had with my Mini! Same oil temperature warning light, error codes, and even the oil pressure light flickering. For me, it was the oil temp sensor. Have you checked the wiring and the connector itself? They can get corroded or damaged easily.

Yeah, the gauge was all over the place too, acting erratically. Honestly, save yourself the headache and just get it checked at a workshop. A faulty temp sensor can cause issues, and it's better to be safe than sorry. Especially with the oil pressure light coming on you don't want to risk damaging the engine.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you had this issue, did the oil gauge read incorrectly as well, or was it just the warning lights? I'm trying to narrow it down further before taking it to a mechanic.

Got my Mini back. You were spot on it was the oil temperature sensor. The cable and plug connection were defective, as suspected. It cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Thanks a million for your help!
