I haven't checked the backpressure myself, but I suspect it's high. When you say DPF cleaning, are you referring to the chemical cleaning treatments you add to the fuel, or something more involved? Also, did the cleaning solve the problem permanently for you, or did you eventually need to replace the filter?

The cleaning helped temporarily, but the issue returned after a few months. Eventually, I needed a new diesel filter. Considering the smoke and power loss, yours sounds pretty bad. I'd suggest a proper vehicle inspection at a workshop to confirm the diagnosis before throwing money at it.

Thanks for the input. I took it to a mechanic, and as suspected, the diesel filter was indeed defective. Replacement cost me about 1550€. Ouch. Hopefully, this sorts it out for good.

Sounds like a blocked diesel filter. I had similar issues with my Cooper D, loss of power and some smoke. Have you checked the backpressure? Sometimes a good DPF cleaning can help, though it depends on the extent of the blockage.
