Mini Cooper AdBlue Tank Issue

Got a bit of a problem with my 2016 Mini Cooper diesel. I'm getting an error message saying the AdBlue tank is empty. The car won't start now, and there's an error stored in the memory. From what I've read, it sounds like the AdBlue output from the tank to the dosing unit might be defective. Trying to figure out if this is common, and if it really might cost 250€ to fix. Concerned about emission standards and the SCR catalyst being affected by all this. Anyone experienced something similar with their AdBlue tank capacity?

Sounds very similar to what happened with my Mini Cooper. I also got the error message and the engine wouldn't start. Was the AdBlue injection system actually empty, or was there still some fluid in the tank? Did you notice any unusual diesel exhaust smells before this happened?

The tank was showing as completely empty. I didn't notice any smells, but I'm not always paying attention to that. I'm wondering if the whole AdBlue output thing is the culprit you think it is?

Yup, sounds like the AdBlue output. The system probably thinks it's empty because the fluid isn't being delivered properly, even if there's some left. That would cause the engine to refuse to start. I'd take it to a workshop. They'll probably confirm the same thing and get it sorted. It's a relatively common issue with these cars, and it affects the whole diesel exhaust treatment system.

Alright, thanks for confirming that's most likely the issue. I'll get it booked into the shop then. Diagnosis was indeed a defective AdBlue output. Got it fixed for 250€. Hopefully, this tank lasts a bit longer!
