Mini Clubman seat heater malfunction

I am writing to seek assistance with a problem I am experiencing with my 2009 Mini Clubman. The driver's side seat heater is no longer functioning. When activated, the seat does not get warm, and I have observed that an error code is stored in the error memory relating to the seat heating system. Based on my preliminary research, the likely cause appears to be a defective seat heating mat. I've seen this a few times with similar models. The stored error is a good indicator. Before you jump to replacing the heating mat, have you checked the thermal sensor?
