Mini Clubman seat heater malfunction

I am writing to seek assistance with a problem I am experiencing with my 2009 Mini Clubman. The driver's side seat heater is no longer functioning. When activated, the seat does not get warm, and I have observed that an error code is stored in the error memory relating to the seat heating system. Based on my preliminary research, the likely cause appears to be a defective seat heating mat. I would be grateful for any guidance or suggestions you may be able to offer before I proceed with repairs.

I've seen this a few times with similar models. The stored error is a good indicator. Before you jump to replacing the heating mat, have you checked the thermal sensor? Sometimes that can throw a false positive. Also, is the error intermittent or constant? Does it happen on both seats or just the driver's side?

Regarding the thermal sensor, is there a straightforward way to test it, or does it require specialized diagnostic equipment? The error is constant, and it only affects the driver's seat. The passenger seat warmer works without any issues.

Okay, since it's only the driver's side and the error is constant, it definitely points to either the heating element itself or a break in the wiring specific to that seat. A thermal sensor issue would likely be intermittent. Given that you've already got an error code, replacing the heating mat is probably the right move. It's a bit of a job to get the seat apart, so unless you're very comfortable with auto electrics, taking it to a workshop might be the best bet.

Thank you for your insights. You were spot on. The seat heating mat was indeed defective. I've had it replaced, and the total came to 390€. I appreciate your assistance.
