When you experienced your problem, did the starter motor make any sound? All dashboard lights are working. Is it possible that replacing the ignition switch will fix the problem? How did you resolve your issue?

In my case, the starter motor did nothing at all, total silence. Since your dashboard lights are working, it probably rules out a completely dead battery, which is good. My suggestion? Don't replace the ignition switch yourself. Car electronics can be finicky. Take it to a workshop. It could be a simple fix like a blown fuse, or something more complicated within the ignition switch itself. Let a professional diagnose it properly. They will inspect the ignition switch with the appropriate tools and techniques.

I wanted to update you. The problem was a defective fuse, as you suspected. The final repair cost was just 52€. Thanks for your help!

That sounds suspiciously like a problem I had with my Clubman. When you say the engine doesn't start, does the starter motor even engage when you turn the key, or is there just silence? Also, do any of the dashboard lights come on as expected? It could be a car electronics issue related to the ignition switch. Let me know these details and I can give you additional advice.
