Mini Clubman Diesel Injection System Fault

My 2019 Mini Clubman Diesel is throwing a fit. I'm getting a 'Injection system faulty' message. Symptoms include higher fuel consumption than usual, noticeably reduced engine power, the engine sometimes stalls at idle, and there's a puff of smoke when I accelerate. I suspect it might be a defective cable or plug connection somewhere in the injection system. Anyone else experienced this particular diesel gremlin? What maintenance steps did you take?

Sounds eerily familiar! I had a similar issue with my Mini Cooper Diesel. Symptoms were almost identical – reduced power, stalling, and excessive smoke on acceleration. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the injectors? It's like a loose wire in a lamp – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Interesting! Where exactly should I be looking for these cable and plug connections? Are they easily accessible, or will I need to disassemble half the engine bay to get to them? Any chance you remember which component was the problem for you?

Yep, sounds like the same headache I had. Unfortunately, I can't pinpoint the exact location from memory. It's buried under a bunch of other stuff, and fiddling with it without proper tools could make things worse. Honestly, for 95€, it's probably worth letting a workshop sort it out. They'll have the diagnostic tools to pinpoint the exact cable/plug, and it'll save you a load of time and potential frustration.

Massive thanks for the insights. Just got back from the workshop – you nailed it! It was indeed a dodgy plug connection on the injection system. 95€ later, and my Mini Clubman is purring like a kitten again. No more smoke, the engine doesn't stall, and the power is back. Fuel consumption seems normal too. Really appreciate the help!
