Mini Cabrio Terminal Thirty Error

Alright, so I'm having some trouble with my 2010 Mini Cabrio diesel. I keep getting a Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted error. The car starts poorly. From what I've read, it points to a heavily discharged or defective battery. Has anyone else run into this, and any tips on what to check before I resign myself to a costly repair?

Sounds like a similar issue I had with my Mini. The symptoms were almost identical. Have you checked the wiring harness around the battery? I found a loose connection there once that was causing intermittent power loss. It's like a bad tap connection in your house, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Could also be a fuse in the fuse box related to the starter motor circuit. Did you notice anything weird before this started, like the car struggling to start?

Thanks for the quick response! I did check the battery connections, but didn't really dig into the wiring harness itself. Where exactly should I be looking for these loose connections? And which fuse are you referring to, is there a specific one related to Terminal 30 or the starter motor that I should check first?

Yeah, mine acted up the same way before. Honestly, poking around the wiring harness without proper tools or knowledge can be a recipe for more trouble. Given that it's related to Terminal 30 and affects starting, it might be best to get a diagnostic done at a workshop. They can pinpoint the issue with the charging system or any deeper electrical fault without risking further damage.

Just wanted to give an update. Took the Mini Cabrio to the workshop and they confirmed it was a heavily discharged battery, causing the Terminal 30 issue. New battery and a check of the charging system later, everything is running smoothly. Cost me around 290€. Thanks for the help!
