Mini Cabrio Key Battery Issues

Thanks for your quick response! Yes, I did see some corrosion. So, if I understand you correctly, after you cleaned the contacts, the problem was solved? Did you also replace the battery in your car key, or was cleaning enough? Also, after replacing the battery did you have to reprogram the electronic key, or did it work right away? I'm really not sure if I can handle this myself. I'm so frustrated with this electronic key stuff.

Cleaning the contacts didn't solve the issue for me. I ended up replacing the battery in the electronic key entirely. In my case, reprogramming wasn't necessary; it worked immediately after the battery replacement. Given the symptoms and error messages you described, battery replacement appears to be the most probable solution. However, if problems persist after you replace the battery, it might be best to consult a workshop.

Okay, so I just wanted to give you a heads-up. I replaced the battery in my Mini Cabrio's electronic key, and now everything is working properly again. The total cost was 37€, which I think is acceptable. Thanks again for your help!

I have a Mini Cabrio too, though I'm not sure if it's the same year. I experienced something similar a while back. When the car key battery was getting low, the keyless entry started acting up, and the error memory also stored a fault. Could you perhaps check if the battery contacts in your car key are clean? Sometimes, a little corrosion can cause problems.
