Mini Cabrio engine issues

Air in the fuel system makes sense. How exactly do I check the fuel rail pressure sensor? Is that something I can do myself, or am I better off taking my Mini Cabrio to a workshop?

Yeah, sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is the culprit. If you're not comfortable with diagnostics, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. Messing with the fuel system can be tricky. They can properly diagnose and replace the pressure sensor if needed. They'll have the right tools to ensure the fuel system is bled properly and you don't get any lingering engine misfire issues.

Sounds like a classic fuel pressure issue. When the fuel filter was changed, did you ensure no air got into the fuel system? Have you checked the fuel rail pressure sensor readings? An engine misfire could be triggered by that. It's like when your heart skips a beat because it's not getting enough blood.
