Mini Cabrio Cruise Control Problem

I am experiencing a problem with the cruise control on my 2015 Mini Cabrio. The cruise control has stopped functioning entirely. I have scanned the error memory and it shows an error related to the cruise control system, possibly a defective cable or plug connection. I have read that problems with the speed sensor or even the clock spring can cause cruise control issues. I am trying to avoid an expensive repair. The estimated repair cost is approximately 95€. Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I visit the workshop.

I had a similar issue with my Mini Cabrio, although it wasn't diesel. Cruise control just quit. Have you checked the fuse box? A blown fuse can sometimes be the culprit. Also, a faulty brake light switch can interfere with the cruise control system. It's worth a look.

Thank you for your suggestions. Where is the fuse box located, and do you know which fuse is specifically for the cruise control? Also, is there a way to check the brake light switch without special equipment?

Yes, the fuse box is usually located in the passenger footwell. Check the car's manual for the exact fuse diagram; it should identify the cruise control fuse. Regarding the brake light switch, you can visually inspect if the brake lights illuminate when you press the brake pedal. If they don't light up, the switch is likely faulty. However, given the error memory points to a connection issue and the estimated cost, it's probably best to have a workshop take a look. They can properly diagnose and repair the defective connection.

Thank you for your insights. The workshop confirmed it was a defective connection as suspected. They replaced a faulty plug and the cruise control is now working again. The cost was indeed around 95€ as initially estimated.
