Thanks for sharing your experience! My mileage is at 64163 KM and had my last service about 3 months ago. Yeah, I'm actually hearing a slight knocking sound when accelerating, which is pretty worrying. The weird thing is it all started suddenly last week. I'm thinking I should get it to a workshop ASAP, especially after hearing about your experience. Did you notice any knocking sounds with yours before getting it fixed?
Hey again! Oh that knocking sound you're describing definitely rings a bell, and not in a good way. When I had my ASX issue, I actually did hear some knocking, but it wasn't as noticeable at first. The thing is, mine started making that noise too right after a service, which was a big red flag. In my case, turns out the issue was a bit more serious than just the wrong oil type that I mentioned earlier. The metal shavings and knocking sound were actually related to a failing oil pump. I didn't mention this before because I didn't want to scare you, but since you're describing very similar symptoms to what I experienced, I should be honest. The total repair ended up being more expensive than I initially shared, around 800€ including the new oil pump. But honestly, I'm glad I got it fixed right away because it could've gotten much worse if I'd kept driving it. With your mileage being similar to what mine was (I was at about 70000 KM), and those symptoms being so similar, I'd definitely recommend getting it checked ASAP. Don't even drive it if you can avoid it, get it towed to the workshop. Trust me, it's better to be safe than sorry with these things! Let me know how it goes, yeah? I'm really curious to know if it's the same issue I had.
Thanks so much for the detailed response and being honest about your full experience! You've really got me worried now, but I'm glad you told me about the oil pump issue. Better to know what I might be dealing with. I've already called my local workshop and they can take it in tomorrow morning, I'm going to have it towed there just to be safe, like you suggested. The potential 800€ repair bill isn't great news, but you're right, it's definitely better than risking more serious damage. I'll update you once I know what's going on. Really appreciate all your help with this!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2014 Mitsubishi ASX Diesel last year. Those metal shavings in the oil are definitely concerning! Turned out someone had put the wrong type of engine oil in mine during a previous service. Took it to my trusted workshop, and they had to do a complete oil system flush, replace the oil filter, and refill with the correct oil spec. Cost me around 175€ all in. The warning lights disappeared right after, and it's been running smoothly since then. What's your current mileage and when was your last oil change? Also, are you hearing any unusual engine noises? This info would help me give you more specific advice based on my experience. Cheers!
