Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm glad you got yours sorted. Yeah, mine seems quite similar. The metal shavings definitely got me worried, so I'll probably take it to a certified dealer like you suggested. Can't remember, how much did you end up paying for the sensor fix? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up?
Hey again! Yeah, just to follow up, after I got my Eclipse Cross checked out at AutoTech, it turned out to be exactly what they initially suspected. The faulty oil level sensor was giving false readings because of that dodgy cable connection. Cost me 165€ to fix, which included the labor to clean and properly secure the connection. Honestly, it was worth every penny because the warning light hasn't come back since! The car's been running like a dream for the past year, no more warning lights or any other issues popping up. Such a relief when it turned out to be just the sensor! But you're definitely making the right call getting yours checked at a dealer, especially with those metal shavings you mentioned. That's not something you want to mess around with. Keep us posted on what they find with yours! Always good to share these experiences so others can learn from them too.
Thanks so much for the info! I actually just got back from the Mitsubishi dealer today. You wouldn't believe it, turns out my issue was way more complex than yours. The metal shavings were coming from a worn bearing in the engine, and they said it needed some serious work. Ended up costing me nearly $2,000 to fix everything, including replacing the bearing and doing a complete oil system flush. The mechanic showed me all the damaged parts and explained everything really well. Pretty scary to think what might've happened if I'd kept driving it without getting it checked! The car's running much smoother now, and all the warning lights are finally off. Guess it's true what they say, better safe than sorry! Thanks again for pushing me to get it checked at the dealer. You probably saved me from an even bigger repair bill down the road. Fingers crossed it'll be running as smoothly as your Eclipse Cross from here on out!
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV last year. The oil warning light came on, and I initially thought it was just a sensor thing too. I took it to my local Mitsubishi specialist, and it turned out the Oil Level Sensor cable connection was corroded and had a loose connection. But here's the thing, metal shavings in your oil is a separate and more serious issue that shouldn't be ignored. In my case, it was just the sensor connection that needed cleaning and securing properly. The fix was pretty straightforward, took about an hour at the garage. Given you're seeing metal shavings, I'd strongly suggest getting it checked ASAP at a certified Mitsubishi dealer. Could be something more serious than just a sensor issue. The combination of warning lights and metal shavings could indicate engine wear problems. Had mine fixed at AutoTech Mitsubishi (you'll need to find a specialist in your area), and they did a solid job. They really knew their way around the hybrid system, which was important to me.
