Hey again! Yeah, absolutely after getting it fixed at the dealer, everything's been running perfectly smooth with my Q50. The oil level sensor warning hasn't popped up once since they sorted it out. I paid exactly 165€ for the repair they basically had to clean up and fix that faulty cable connection on the sensor. Pretty straightforward job, really. Nothing complicated or super expensive like I initially feared it might be. Just want to stress though your situation with the metal particles is a bit different from what I dealt with. My issue was purely an electrical thing with the sensor itself. Definitely get those metal particles checked out separately, as that could be something more serious. But at least for the sensor warning, you're probably looking at a similar fix and cost to what I had. Been over a year now since I got it fixed and haven't had any related issues pop up. Money well spent in my book! Let me know if you need any other info about my experience with this.
Thanks a lot for all the details! I actually went ahead and took your advice about the Infiniti dealer on Main Street today. Turns out it was more complex than just a sensor issue. They found that the metal particles were coming from a worn timing chain tensioner something about it wearing down and releasing metal bits into the oil. Definitely scary stuff! The whole repair set me back about 850€, which was more than I hoped for, but at least they caught it before it caused serious engine damage. They also fixed the sensor connection while they were at it, just like in your case. Been driving it for a few hours now, and it's running way smoother than before. No more warning lights either! Really appreciate you sharing your experience it gave me the push I needed to get it checked out quickly. Definitely dodged a bullet there by not waiting any longer. Think I'll stick with these guys for future repairs too they seemed pretty honest and thorough with everything.
Had a similar issue with my 2014 Infiniti Q50 last year. The oil level sensor warning kept popping up unusually, even though the oil level was fine. Took it to the dealer's garage and they found that the sensor cable connection was corroded and had a loose fit. It wasn't a major repair just needed to clean the connection points and secure the wiring harness properly. The metal particles in your oil are concerning though that's different from what I experienced and could point to internal engine wear. I'd definitely get that checked out soon. My sensor issue was more of an annoyance than a serious problem, but metal in oil needs immediate attention. If you're near downtown, I've had good experiences with the certified Infiniti dealer on Main Street they're pretty straightforward with their diagnostics.
