Hey, thanks for the quick reply. It's reassuring to hear that you've also been confronted with such a problem and that it's not too serious. Do you happen to remember the cost of the repair? And has your car had any further problems since then or is it now running perfectly again? Many thanks in advance!

Hey, since the visit to the mechanic, my Sprinter has been running like clockwork again, so it hasn't had any further problems since then. The mechanic got the glow plug defect under control, so I can only recommend him! The cost of the repair was of course a different story. I paid €560 to fix the problem, i.e. to replace the defective glow plug. It was clearly due to wear on the glow plug. But hey, that's probably the price you pay for a vehicle that runs smoothly again. Good luck with your Vito! Hopefully it's just as easy to fix for you!

Hello, oh boy, that's a pretty high cost. But if that's the price to get the car running again, then I guess I'll pay it. Thanks for the detailed description, that really helps me. I will now make an appointment with the mechanic and hope that it is just as easy to solve on my Vito as it is on your Sprinter. Thanks again for your help! All the best!

Hi, I actually had a similar problem with my 2016 Mercedes Sprinter. One of the symptoms was exactly the same: the preglow light stayed on all the time. The cold start in the morning was also a real nightmare. The suspicion of a defective glow plug was then confirmed. My visit to the mechanic revealed that the glow plug was defective due to wear. It was probably so worn that it was no longer working properly and therefore had to be replaced. This took a lot of patience and time, but wasn't really a serious matter - just annoying. One of the reasons for the faulty glow plug can be constant use, especially if you do a lot of short distance driving. So, I would recommend that you take your car in for a check-up. Maybe it's the same problem as mine. All the best!
