Hey, thanks for your reply, that reassures me a bit that I'm not alone with this problem! Can I ask how much you paid to get this fixed? Did anything else on the car work abnormally after the repair or was everything ok? I just want to check if there's anything else I could be dealing with.

Hey, no problem, we all have to stick together, don't we? I paid €240 for the repair of the defective pressure sensor. Since the mechanic fixed the fault for me, everything has been running like clockwork, no more faulty signals from the rail pressure sensor. So in my case, everything has been great since the mechanic's visit, nothing conspicuous or anything. Of course, I can't guarantee for all eventualities, but in my experience it should run smoothly for you as soon as it's repaired. So cheer up, you'll get it sorted!

Hey, thanks, that doesn't sound too bad. And I don't think €240 is too bad either, it would be worth it to me if the car runs smoothly again. I'll probably bite the bullet and make an appointment with the mechanic. I'll get back to you when everything is sorted. Your advice has really helped me, thanks again!

Hey, I have a 2016 Mercedes S-Class diesel, and I once had the same problem. Black smoke, loud noises, and constant stalling of the engine. Also had a feeling that the pressure sensor was the culprit. Went to the garage the other day and it turned out that my suspicions were correct - the rail pressure sensor was faulty. It can be a serious matter, as the defective sensor transmits incorrect information to the control unit and this can lead to the symptoms mentioned. In my case, it wasn't a simple repair that they were able to do during my lunch break, but it wasn't so bad that the car had to stay in the workshop for days. The guys from the workshop replaced the sensor and the affected components, adjusted everything correctly and since then my car has been running perfectly again. It's definitely advisable to have this checked and repaired by a professional, as a faulty rail pressure sensor can not only lead to performance problems, but also serious engine damage. It seems that you are not alone with this problem. Hope this helps you a little!
