Hey, after I went to the mechanic, it turned out that the engine start might not have been possible because it was a consequential fault in the car's electrics. Fortunately, the mechanic fixed the problem free of charge (0€) as it was a small fault in the wiring harness that was easy to repair. Since then, my Mercedes has been running again without any problems. I hope this helps you! Good luck with your GLS and let me know how it turns out for you. Best regards

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! It sounds like I might have a similar problem. Today I finally went to the mechanic and lo and behold, the alternator was indeed gone. He also said that the battery was badly worn and had to be replaced. Fortunately, the mechanic nearby had the right spare parts in stock and was able to repair both immediately. The whole thing cost me around €450 in total, but I'm really glad that everything is working again without any problems. The engine noises are gone and the lights are back on as they should be. All in all, I'm pleased that I've finally found a reliable mechanic. If anyone has similar problems with a Mercedes, I can only recommend checking the alternator and battery immediately. Thanks again for your advice! Best regards

Hey, I know the problems you're describing all too well. I had similar symptoms with my 2016 Mercedes GLE: long cold start, weak battery and flickering lights. It turned out to be a consequential fault in the vehicle's electrical system caused by a faulty alternator. In my case, the alternator had to be replaced, and there was also a problem with a wiring harness that was damaged and thus affecting the electrics. Once all that was fixed, my GLE worked perfectly again. This was a serious matter that had to be dealt with quickly. If you're looking for a good mechanic, I can recommend going to a specialist for Mercedes vehicles. They are often more knowledgeable than general garages. Good luck and hope your GLS runs smoothly again soon! Regards
