Mercedes GLE 2020: Problems with warning light and presumably low brake fluid level - experience and tips wanted

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey guys, there's a small problem with my 2020 Mercedes GLE Diesel. The warning light in the speedometer is going crazy. I suspect that the brake fluid level might be too low. Have any of you ever had experience with something like this? How did you get it fixed at the garage? I'd like to get some tips before I go there. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2018 Mercedes GLS diesel. My knowledge of cars is poor, I would say low experience. At my garage it was a leak in the brake system and they had to fix it, it cost 405 euros. You should definitely take your car to a garage to check if the brake fluid level is actually too low. Can you give more details about your car? That way I might be able to help you more specifically.

Hello and thanks for your reply! So, my GLE already has 197824 km on the clock and the last service was about 6 months ago, if that helps. I never thought it could be that expensive, but I will definitely take my car to the garage and get that checked! I really appreciate your help.

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! With 197824 kilometers on the odometer, the vehicle could indeed have some issues to deal with. My garage also recommended that I have the brake fluid changed every two years. So if your last service was six months ago and the brake fluid wasn't changed, that could be a possible reason for the warning light. However, there may be other reasons, so it's a good idea to have it checked. The repair may be a bit expensive, but safety first, right? Stay strong and let us know how it goes!

Hello again! Thanks for your advice and words of encouragement. I actually haven't had a brake fluid change for almost two years, so that could really be the problem. I've now made an appointment at my garage and will definitely give an update as soon as I know what's going on. Safety definitely comes first! Thanks again for the help and see you soon!

Hello, so if the light is on and there is no brake fluid, there can be two reasons for this. Either the brakes are so worn that the fluid level is below minimum, in which case the brake fluid can be topped up if the brake pads and discs have been checked beforehand. On the other hand, there may of course be a leak. My tip is to find a workshop and have this checked before the brake system fails.
