Hey, thanks for your quick response. A defective control unit would definitely be a possibility, especially as my car already has a few kilometers on the clock. I'd be interested to know how much the replacement cost you back then? And have you had any further problems since then or has everything been back to normal? Thank you and stay healthy!

Hey, I'm glad my answer helped you. After I took the car to the mechanic, everything ran like clockwork again. Replacing the ECU really did the trick and best of all, the "engine may not start" fault was fixed! Surprisingly, I didn't have to pay a penny for it, as the fault was the result of a secondary fault in the vehicle's electrics and the cost was covered by the warranty. Since then, I have had no further problems with my car - it now runs like a well-oiled machine again. So, don't be put off, your Benz will survive this setback! Take care of yourself and stay healthy! Happy driving!

Hey, that sounds almost too good to be true. A damaged control unit that is covered by the warranty and then no more problems - I just hope I'm as lucky as you! I will definitely go to the garage now and try to get the problem sorted out. Thanks again for your advice and support. You really helped me a lot. Take good care of yourself and stay healthy! Have a safe journey at all times! Thank you and see you next time!

Hey, I have a 2013 Mercedes E-Class and had similar problems. Would have otherwise thought it could be the spark plugs, but in your case it sounds like it's a consequential fault in the vehicle's electrics. On my car it was the control unit that needed replacing. It may sound harsh, but it's a fairly common problem with these vehicles, especially when they're older and have more kilometers on the clock. I can understand that you don't want to go back to the garage, but if it's the electrics, it's better to have it done. Changing the cable yourself is one thing, but the control unit is not to be trifled with. Hope this helps you. Have a safe journey!
