Mercedes EQC 2020 multifunction steering wheel not working: advice and workshop experience wanted

Buttons on multifunction steering wheel without function

Hi guys, I need your advice. I have a problem with my 2020 Mercedes EQC with a mileage of 180,463 km and a gasoline engine. The buttons on the multifunction steering wheel no longer work. I think it could be a fault with the multifunction steering wheel. Have any of you ever had problems like this? What was your experience at the garage? Last time my experience with the mechanic was not the best. Looking forward to your experiences and recommendations. Thank you!

Hello, I once had a similar problem with my 2017 Mercedes GLE. In my case, it was actually the control unit that was faulty. The buttons on the steering wheel only worked partially, just like yours. This was a serious issue because the control unit plays a central role in the car. At my garage, the control unit was replaced and since then everything has been running smoothly again. The people there were very thorough and professional. I hope this helps you a little. All the best!

Hey, that's a really bad situation. That sounds like a similar drama that I once had with my EQC. Everything has gone smoothly for you since the ECU was replaced, hasn't it? And can you still remember the cost of the repair? Has anything else come up since then that also needed to be repaired? Your experience would really help me. Thanks in advance!

Hey, hey! It's been a while since that happened to me. But yes, after the control unit was replaced, the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel were fully functional again. No more problems after that. And of course, the cost... that was a bit of a shock. They charged a hefty €1000 to repair the defective control unit. But hey, what are you going to do, right? At least that solved the problem and so far nothing has come up again that needs repairing. Hope this helps you a little!

Thanks for the detailed answers, guys! Your information really helps. It looks like I need to prepare myself for a costly repair. 1000 € is definitely a shock! But the most important thing is that the problem is solved and no further problems arise. Apparently, replacing the control unit seems to be the right solution. Now I'm definitely going to the garage with a better idea of what to expect and will insist that they do a thorough job. You have really helped me. Thanks a million!
