Thanks for the tip, buddy. Unfortunately, I haven't read out an error code. My Citan has a whopping 146798 km on the clock and the last service was only recently. I hope it's nothing serious like a faulty engine control unit... this lot has cost enough already. I'm going to take it to the garage tomorrow and have them check what's really going on. I hope they find the problem quickly and it doesn't cost the earth. Nevertheless, I really appreciate your advice!

No problem, friends are there to help each other, right? I'm sorry you're having such problems with your car. It sounds really frustrating. Mercedes are normally really reliable. But with 146798km...well, some parts might just give up the ghost now. I hope for your sake it's not the engine control unit after all, because that will be really expensive. In any case, let us know what the workshop comes up with. Maybe we can learn from your experience. All the best and hopefully it's not too bad!

Yes, that's true. Friends are indeed important in times like these. I also hope that the problem won't be too expensive. Yes, the high mileage could of course be a contributing factor. But well, I'll have to wait and see what the experts say. I'll definitely keep you posted and hopefully someone will benefit from my experience. Thanks again for your advice and good wishes! See you later!

Hi, I have the Mercedes Sprinter (built in 2010, diesel) and am more of a layman when it comes to cars, but I had a similar problem. The symptoms sounded very similar to what you are experiencing. In my case, however, the engine control unit was faulty. The repair was quite expensive, I had to fork out around €1000. It could possibly be the same problem for you, although I must point out that I have no mechanical training. Do you actually have the option of reading out an error code? It might help to find out the exact cause of the problem and assist further.
