Mazda Spiano '03 Experiencing Black Smoke, Power Loss, and Poor Fuel Economy: Potential Lambda Sensor Heater Issue?

Hey! I definitely feel your pain. Got a '01 Mazda Demio and had a similar issue couple years back. I'm not exactly a car whizz, got some experience but not too much, mostly know my way around the basics. Turned out it was the Lambda sensor heater causing the ruckus - very similar to what you're describing. Had to roll up to the workshop, where I had it replaced. That set me back by about 375€ to sort out, which in my books was better than a new car! Quick check though, when'd you last get your Spiano serviced? Hey! Appreciate the response and advice! I last had the ol' Spiano serviced at 150,000 KM, so it's relatively fresh off the stands, you know? Been about 4,548 KM since then. I did consider the other sensors, don't worry. So far, it all points back to the lambda sensor heater. That price does sting a bit, though. But then again, better than a new car payment, aye?
