Hey there! Your situation sounds super similar to a problem I faced with my '07 Mazda Scrum. The symptoms were uncannily similar and it was indeed a leaking intake hose that was the main culprit. I gotta ask, since you've been through this before, do you recall how much the repairs set you back by? I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for the bills. And did anything else related to this issue pop up eventually? Thanks, and cheers for sharing your experience!
Hey! Ah, the joys of car ownership, right? I clearly remember dealing with the leaky intake hose issue on my Mazda Attenza. After visiting the mechanic, thankfully, the problem was quickly sorted out. It did punch a a bit of a hole in my wallet, though. The cost of fixing the leaking intake hose set me back by about 100.00 €. A bit pricey, but a necessary fix. Since then, I'm pleased to say I've had no recurrence or related issues. My Mazda's been running smooth as silk, no worries there at all. Hope your Mazda Scrum gets back to top condition soon! Best of luck!
Ah, that's really a relief to hear. You know, it's never a sweet pill to swallow when your ride starts acting up, and it's pocket burning as well. But I guess it's all part of the deal when you love your car. Your reassurance has made me feel a lot better. 100.00 € does sound a bit steep, but I guess for the sake of old Scrum's health, it's a necessary expense. Going to get it checked and hopefully resolved soon. Thanks again for sharing your experiences, really appreciate your help. Cheers!
Hey, sounds like you've got yourself a bit of a situation with a leaking intake hose, but no worries, been there, done that. I have a 2005 Mazda Attenza which had similar issues few years back. Engine was whining louder than a lonesome blues singer and jerking like it'd been on the caffeine beans. So, the main issue was indeed the intake hose. It had a crack down the side, causing the engine to take in more air than necessary. This messed up the fuel/air mix, leading to the problems you're describing - rough idle, loss in power, the whole nine yards. The Check Engine light was my first clue something was off. The job, in essence, was to replace the faulty intake hose. I’d definitely suggest getting it checked out ASAP, cause a long-term leak can cause more serious damage down the line, like screwing up your mass airflow sensor or even damaging the engine due to running too lean. All the best, and hope your Scrum's purring like a kitten soon!
