Mazda MX5 2022 Experiencing Persistent 'Low Tire Pressure' Warning Despite Fine Tire Pressure

Tire pressure to low

Hey! I am currently driving a 2022 Mazda MX5, gasoline engine, with a bit over 87K km on it. Lately, I'm constantly having this 'Low Tire Pressure' warning, although my tire pressure seems fine. I had a rotten experience with a mechanic previously, and I'm leaning towards the possibility of a glitch in the TPMS instead of actual tire issues. Has anyone experienced similar problems with their Mazda or any other car? How did your mechanic handle it? I appreciate all insights, thanks!

Hey! I completely get where you're coming from. I had a similar issue with my 2019 Mazda CX-9 just a little while ago. It was the same persistent 'Low Tire Pressure' warning, despite the tire pressure being all good. After a lot of guesswork, it turned out to be the TPMS antennas at fault. The garage diagnosed it as a defective antenna which was a bit of a pain, but it's not uncommon. Those little things can be touchy. Once they got to it and replaced the faulty antennas, the warnings stopped and everything’s been peachy since. It wasn't too serious and certainly didn't keep me off the road for long. Hope that gives you a bit of peace of mind.

Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience, that's definitely helpful. The antennae... who would’ve thought, right? I’m relieved it’s not something major. My MX5 and I had quite the journey. Do you recall, by any chance, what the antenna replacement set you back? And have you had any other warning pop up since then, or has it all been smooth sailing?

Hey there! Glad my experience could help! Yeah, it's funny how problems always seem to come from the parts you least expect, right? Who knew antennas could be such a fuss. Anyway, the bill for the TPMS antennas repair came to 255.00 €, but honestly, I reckon it's worth every penny for peace of mind and not having that nagging warning on your dash. As for your other question, since the repair, everything's been running like brand new - no more warning lights or TPMS annoyances, touch wood. Looks like that trip to the mechanic did the trick! And hey, it's a nice reminder that not all trips to mechanics end in tears, huh?! Stay safe on the roads!

Hey, that's great to hear! Yeah, I definitely agree, €255 for peace and quiet on the dash does sound like a worthwhile investment. It's uplifting to know that not every mechanic visit has to be a prolonged nightmare. I reckon it's high time I stop ignoring the blaring warning. I'm better equipped knowing your experience - thanks for the heads up! Time I got my MX5 sorted, for smoother roads ahead. Stay safe out there!
