Hey, thanks for sharing your CX5 ordeal - sounds all too familiar unfortunately. Seems like the transfer case might indeed be the villain in my saga too. How hard did this hit your wallet if you don't mind me asking? And have you noticed any other symptoms or issues cropping up since getting it fixed or is it all smooth sailing? Really appreciate your help on the matter! Cheers.
Hey there, no problem sharing at all. We car guys gotta look out for each other, amirite? About your question, I had to shell out a modest sum of 210.00 € to get that pesky worn gear in the transfer case oil fixed up. Honestly, considering the consequences if left untreated, I'd say it's money well spent. Since getting it sorted, there's been no problems; my beast is back in full form! The mechanic did a top-notch job and everything's been running like butter, especially the transfer case. No oil wear issue reappeared or anything. It's like I got a brand-new car. Anyway, don't delay on this. Get it checked and fixed soon and you'll be back enjoying your rides. Good luck!
Super helpful really appreciate you taking the time to fill me in on the details. Sounds like you got a bargain for the repair, considering it's got your car roadworthy again without problems. With that kind of peace of mind, it makes the cost easier to swallow. Thanks for the advice, too. I'll definitely be following up and will book my CX8 into a workshop soon to prevent any potential disaster down the line. Hoping to have my beauty back on the road in no time. Cheers for the wisdom!
Hey, sounds like a right nightmare happenin' with your CX8. Reminds me of the issues that cropped up on my 2016 Mazda CX5 not long ago, only had it a few years and barely reached around 85,000 KM. Had a similar issue with the transmission, same weird grinding noise and all. Not a fun time, I can tell ya. Things started acting up, it felt like the car had developed a mind of its own. The diagnosis came down to the transfer case indeed - turned out to be worn gear in the oil. Not the simplest issue, but luckily I had it tended to in time. Don't know about your neck of the woods, but I was lucky to have found a decent mechanic who took things well in hand. It wasn't too shabby dealing with the process, and theyaged to identify the exact problem, which unfortunately was as I feared - wear and tear on the gear in the transfer case oil over time. That's probably the culprit in yours too, given the symptoms you've listed. Would definitely suggest getting it checked out as soon as you can manage though. It's not something you'd want to ignore with the potential risks it poses to your transmission and performance. It was a serious issue for my car. Better to be safe than sorry with it. Hope you get your ride sorted soon!
