Hey, it's awesome your CX5's no longer giving you grief post that fix! Getting the water pump's cable replaced might just be my answer too. I was wondering, can you jog your memory a little to remember how much the repair set you back? Also, since all that drama, has anything else popped up? Fingers crossed it's been a smooth ride. Thanks a bunch!
Hey, good to hear from you again! As for the cost, it set me back around €225, give or take a few. Pricey thank goodness I had some set aside for car stuff. And ever since I had the water pump's cable fixed, my trusty old Mazda's been having a sweet time, no worries whatsoever. Even the warning about the additional water pump popped up before, disappeared and hasn't shown its face since. So yeah, apart from that the ride's been as smooth as you'd want. No new hassles, just the usual maintenance. Touch wood, it stays that way! All the best with your own whip hope it gets back to purring without problems soon!
You're a life-saver! I was on the fence about how serious the issue could get and how much it'd strain the pocket, but I'm breathing easier now knowing the ballpark figure. Just reserved some moolah for unexpected repairs so I'm good to go. Sorry to pester you and thanks a million for the detailed rundown. Going to haul my Mazda to the mechanic's tomorrow and will probably tackle that pesky pump cable. Wishing you continuous smooth rides with your faithful CX5. Cheers again!
Hey there. Seems like our experiences sync up! I own a 2017 Mazda CX5, similar beast only a bit older. Same issue popped up for me, same symptoms - overheating, dropping coolant, the works - right around your mileage, too. Took it into the shop and found out it was a cable fault at the pump/control unit. Nothing too scary, but it was interrupting the water pump's operation, hence the overheating and coolant loss. They sorted the matter out for me by replacing the defective cable, and blimey, it worked like a charm afterward. It's been a while since I fixed that and I've not seen a problem since. So yeah, it might not be exactly the same, but it's worth having your mechanic check out the water pump's cable. You might be on the right track with your hunch there! Good luck!
