Mazda CX7 2007 Windscreen Heating Issue Seeking Advice

Like in your case, diagnostics were screaming there was something off. My mechanic located the problem to the relay switch that controls the windshield heater. So, he had to replace the windshield heating element and the relay switch. Might not be exactly the same issue, but your symptoms sound pretty similar to what I had.
