Hey, cheers for shedding some light on that! You're making me think it's those silly hoses that need swapping too. I ain't no car whiz, but that sure does sound like what I've got going on with my old Mazda. Quick question, though - do you happen to remember what cost you were looking at to fix this issue? Also, did any other problems pop up since then? Thanks again!
Hey! Happy I could provide some insights. The total cost to have the hoses replaced was right around 175 Euro - decent value, I reckon, considering it solved the problem and restored my ride's performance. Since taking it to the mechanic, the tank ventilation system has been working just peachy, no complaints. No other problems raised their ugly heads either, my Mazda has been pretty reliable after all that. So, no need to stress too much, just make sure you get a professional to have a look at it. Cheers!
Brilliant! That's really put my mind at ease. I've gotta say, €175 isn't too bad at all for the peace of mind. I'll conquer my fears and get my Mazda over to a decent mechanic ASAP. I mean, can't let my faithful wagon suffer, right? Appreciate the help. Here's hoping my old Mazda will be back to her prime again soon. Cheers!
Hey there! This reminds me of a similar issue I experienced with my '04 Mazda MPV a while ago. My check engine light was constantly flashing, and the car had jolts during acceleration. Turned out, it was due to a couple of faulty hoses. Both the vacuum and breather hoses needed replacements, they were causing irregular engine performance and idling problems, similar to what you're experiencing. The vacuum hose maintains the vacuum generated by the engine when it's running, so a compromised hose can lead to a loss of engine power. The breather hose, on the other hand, is part of the crankcase ventilation system, so issues with it could definitely affect your tank venting, as you suspected. Don't worry though, it might sound serious but it's not as bad as it seems. Replacing hoses is a routine procedure, it just requires a bit of time to identify the broken ones and fix them properly to avoid future issues. Be sure to see a professional though. You need some experienced eyes on it. Cheers!
